Fusion Esports Centre Expands Playtesting Capabilities with Dedicated Virtual Reality Testing Service

The new initiative offers emerging indie creators, immersive studios, and tech enterprises a structured environment to conduct comprehensive UX testing, evaluate player mechanics, and gather actionable audience feedback before commercial launch.

Pioneering Immersive Evaluation

While the Esports Centre has firmly established itself as a regional hub for competitive gaming, digital skills, and playtesting infrastructure, the integration of high-fidelity VR testing addresses a critical bottleneck in the immersive tech ecosystem: accessing real-world target demographics and testing environments at scale.

The inaugural VR playtest session was successfully conducted with Mercurial Dance from EmbodyXR, who utilized the Centre’s facilities to test and iterate on their latest XR experience.

The launch was made possible through technical and delivery collaboration with VibeXR (led by Laura and Alex), alongside specialist technical support from Ian O’Donoghue and the University of Warwick’s Faculty of Arts Building (FAB) tech team.

“This marks a huge milestone for our playtesting operations,” said David Hollis, Knowledge Exchange Manager at Creative Future. “Bringing this service together has been a real team effort, and we couldn’t be happier to now offer VR playtesting both regionally across the West Midlands and nationally across the UK games and tech sectors.”

Supporting Game Developers and Tech Innovators

Virtual reality and spatial computing development presents unique UX challenges—including spatial orientation, locomotion comfort, motion ergonomics, and intuitive interaction design.

The Esports Centre’s expanded service is tailored to bridge this gap by providing:

  • Target Audience Feedback: Rapid, qualitative insights from dedicated gaming and tech communities.

  • Scalable Cohort Testing: Facilities capable of accommodating single-user deep dives up to large-group simultaneous testing sessions.

  • Objective UX & Playability Analysis: Early-stage validation to reduce development risk and polish gameplay loops ahead of market release.

The rollout aligns closely with wider innovation initiatives across the regional tech ecosystem, supported by partners across the Warwick Innovation District, Creative Futures Leamington, and CreaTech Frontiers.

How to Access the Service

Studios, solo creators, and software teams developing VR games, educational simulations, or enterprise XR applications can now book discovery sessions and schedule playtests directly with the Esports Centre team.
