Assessment
This module is assessed by a 6,000 word essay (or 8,000 if taken as a 36-CATS course), which is due on Monday 11 February 2019.
Students should come up with their own essay titles in dialogue with course tutors; titles must be sent to the module convener for approval by the end of Week 1 of the Spring Term. Tutors keep office hours during term time, and you should feel free to approach your tutor during these times, or at an alternative mutually agreed time. You’ll find a tutor’s office hours posted outside their door and also on their page on the Department’s website. Essays for this module should not attempt to cover everything! Please focus on the particular aspects of the module that most interested you.
Essays for this module must:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a wide range of critical writing on drama, theatre and performance;
- Interrogate conceptual approaches by means of primary texts and vice versa;
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of drama and performance methodology in theory and practice;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the historical trajectory of drama and performance theory.
Essays are marked according to the criteria in the course handbooks.
