Course Structure

Year 1

Autumn term:

  • Research Methods - we will automatically allocate you to this so you do not need to apply
  • Core module: 30 CATS - EN9C1 Critical Theory Today - assessed by coursework

Spring term:

  • 1 x 30 CAT module, assessed by coursework

Year 2 (You will apply for your 2025/26 modules in September 2025 -Available modules are subject to change each Academic year))

Autumn term:

  • 1 x 30 CAT module, assessed by coursework

 Spring term:

    • 1 x 30 CAT module, assessed by coursework

     Spring/Summer terms:

    • 60 CATS - 16,000 word dissertation – EN956 - we will automatically allocate you to this, so you do not need to apply

    EN9ZE - Critical Environments (Priority to MA In Environmental Humanities Students)

    EN9ZF (Formerly EN935) - Shakespeare in History

    EN926- British Dramatist in Society

    EN938 - Theory from the Margins: Postcolonialism and the Radical Tradition

    EN9B5 - World Literature in the Anthropocene

    EN9A3 - The Caribbean: Reading the World-Ecology

    EN968 - Marxism and Modernity

    EN913 - Feminist Literary Theory

    Can take one 30 CATS module from outside of the department, including the Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL).
