Subject:Return to campus in term 2
Dear first years,
Following on from the email the University sent to you today, the department wanted to confirm our guidance on how we plan to return English and Comparative Literary Studies students to study in January. We’ve already announced that term 2 will work like term 1 with a blended of online and on-campus teaching. But we also need to follow the UK government guidelines recommending staggered start dates, which have been arranged to ensure your safe return to University.
Please remember that you can return to Warwick whenever you wish. The Government only requires the University to stagger on-campus teaching. The Department for Education specifically highlights that some students may have to return to campus ahead of your on-campus teaching recommencing and you won’t need anyone to approve an early return.
On-campus teaching
As first years, you will have access to our literary walks from week 2 and on-campus teaching from week 4. If you’re a joint-honours student, communications will come directly from our partner departments, who may be running some seminars from week 2. Some staff will also be available to meet you on campus in office hours or individual meetings: if you’re ever unsure please do email your tutor directly.
Asymptomatic testing
To ensure your safety and that of Warwick’s community that we recommend you take asymptomatic Covid-19 Lateral Flow Tests, this time as a prerequisite before re-starting on-campus teaching. Hopefully, if you’ve already taken tests in the lead-up to the Christmas student travel window, you’re already aware of how safe and simple it is to do - if you’re one of the thousands who made the trip to the NHS Test and Trace centre based at The Slate, thank you.
From 5 January 2021, The Slate will again play host to the NHS Test and Trace service. Over the Christmas and New Year break, please look out for notifications on MyWarwick, or check your Warwick email account, for information on how to book.
Next steps
We know there’s lot of information for you to keep on top of at the moment! That’s why we’ll do everything we can to keep you updated, and you should keep a close eye on your Warwick email account and MyWarwick during the Christmas break. MyWarwick is the place to find out information about the University’s Christmas vacation provision if you’re staying on campus or locally, as well as ideas of the Warwick Presents programme of activity in term 2.
