EN2F4-15/EN3F4-15 Medieval Tales (15 CATS)

Module description
From lives of heroic saintly women to tales of the legendary King Arthur and his knights, from talking animals to a bishop's dialogue with a reanimated corpse, this module allows students to deepen their appreciation of the range of medieval narrative, both secular and spiritual.
Building on their first-year introductory module, EN121 Medieval and Early Modern Literature, students will expand their knowledge of medieval literature in a variety of modes including romance, saints’ lives, animal fables, and reworkings of biblical tales.
Prerequisites: Students should normally have taken EN121 Medieval and Early Modern Literature before taking this module. Visiting students are encouraged to contact the module convenor to discuss the suitability of the module.
