Barry MacSweeney

Barry MacSweeney was a poet and journalist who met Basil Bunting while working for the Newcastle Evening Chronicle and became involved in the Morden Tower poetry readings organised by Tom Pickard in the 1960s. He served as chairman of the Poetry Society in the 1970s and received the Paul Hamlyn Award for The Book of Demons in 1997.
