Jack Mapanje

Jack Mapanje is a Malawian poet who has published several collections of poetry. He was imprisoned without trial or charge by the Malawian government in 1987, and finally released in 1991 after campaigns by prominent writers such as Harold Pinter and Noam Chomsky. He currently teaches Creative Writing and Literatures of Incarceration at the University of Newcastle.
