WATE Nomination Process
About the Nomination Process
This website provides information for anyone thinking of nominating staff, team, or self for any of the WATE Awards.
Nominations open on the 24th Nov 2025 and close on the 28th Jan 2026. They involve two stages: Stage One and Stage Two.
NOTE | The nomination form asks about the evidence base for your claim (i.e., whether such evidence exists), not for the evidence itself at this stage, however, judges may request evidence at any point.
Before you nominate
We invite all Warwick students and staff to nominate (or self-nominate) staff, PGRs Who Teach, or teams who demonstrate teaching excellence.
To see what we mean by excellence, view our criteria: WATE - Faculty Awards - Criteria.
We invite you to:
- Nominate as many people or teams as you like (as long as you only nominate each person/team once). Also, please note that previous winners are not eligible to be nominated again.
- Nominate for any award listed here: WATE - Categories & Criteria
Students - we invite you to nominate staff who (currently or in the past (e.g., in the previous academic year)) positively impacted your learning.
Colleagues – we invite you to nominate colleagues, teams, or yourself for current or recent practice(s) demonstrating excellence as per our criteria.
Stage One
How to Nominate
Submit Stage One nomination via our webform [link coming soon] before the deadline, in one of the below formats:
- Written Nomination: up to 150 words statement (approx. 50 words per criterion) OR
- Oral Nomination: up to 2 minutes audio/video recording (approx. 40 seconds per criterion)
Please ensure your nomination addresses all three criteria: WATE - Faculty Awards - Criteria.
All nominations remain anonymous, your name will not be disclosed or publicised. However,
you can choose to share your text with your nominee anonymously.
What Happens Next
Once the Stage One nominations close, the WATE team will seek your nominee's Head of Department endorsement.
With endorsements in place, the WATE team will inform the nominees of their nominations. This will be followed by staff and student judges reviewing the nominations to shortlist three nominees per faculty per award (that’s nine per award (Staff, PGR, Team)), to go through to Stage 2.
Stage Two

The Stories of Excellence can be submitted in either of the two below formats:
- Written Story: up to 1,500-word narrative
- Oral Story: up to 12 minutes audio/video recording.
Support
The WATE team will provide the submission support throughout Stage Two.
