Biofilm models
We have a range of different models for biofilm growth from high throughput models to models which more closely resemble the infection environment.
Ex vivo Pig Skin Model
This model uses skin from butchered pigs and as such does not use live animals to test. It is often used to study burns or other skin wounds.
- Study bacteria and fungi
- Moderate throughput
- Does not use live animals
Ex vivo Pig Lung Model
This model was designed to recapitulate the human CF lung but can be adapted to simulate other lung conditions.
- Study bacteria/fungi/viruses
- Moderate throughput
- 3 R's compliant
Collagen Wound Model
This model is used to replicate a human wound infection.
- Study bacteria and fungi
- In vivo wound model and so does not use live animals
- Moderate throughput
Biofilm Peg Lid Model
Bacteria are grown in the presence of plastic pegs to enable biofilm formation.
- Study bacteria
- Various growth media can be used
- High throughput
