  1. Dear all, I thought this might be interesting for some of you. These are some references that I have colelcted for a feminist reading group two years ago. Alas, it was only me who prepared the meetings, so I had to stop the whole thing after a few months. Maybe some of the material could be interesting for us...?! 2. Thanks so much for this, Katha! Looks really useful, and I'm looking forward to perusing some of this properly. One issue that I've been thinking about is how we might move beyond the stuff people were talking about in the 1980s and 1990s - I think it's telling that most of the entries on your list are from before 2000. It's not that I disagree with any of it or contest that it belongs on such a list - it's more that I'm wondering what the new directions might be....or maybe gender studies / feminism are stuck in a rut to some degree? I don't know, but I'm hoping we can find out. :)

  3. youre absolutely right, anna! this is all pretty old stuff. However, I do feel that many feminists today dismiss previous theories and ideas all to quickly without thoroughly engaging with them. I think many of these debates and ideas are still important and can help us to understand more recent work by feminist theorists (e.g. Barad and other new materialists)...

  4. I'm definitely not in favour of throwing it out! I think the basic thrust of this body of work from the 1980s and 1990s is sound. It's just that I want to know what's happened since then, and/or interrogate whether we are in need of some new directions (while still acknowledging the importance and validity of the older stuff!). :)

  5. Thanks so much for this Katha, so much valuable reading to get through! Maybe we should have a page specifically for recommended book titles and journal articles? A 'Literature Tool Kit' perhaps? We could all add to it as and when... or should be just stick to posting on our individual thematic pages? urgh, I don't know!!
