The aim of our in-person event is to provide researchers at all stages of their PhD programme with an opportunity to develop their research communication skills and engage with topics related to publishing both within and outside of academia. The event will include a mix of workshops, talks, and poster presentations. We are inviting 35 participants from all MGS institutions and pathways to join us at the University of Nottingham. This event will also give you the chance to meet and network with colleagues from different disciplines and institutional cultures, providing valuable insights into research areas beyond your own.
Our guest speakers will include science communication experts, who will deliver talks and workshops designed to enhance your research communication and publishing skills. The event also involves an interactive poster presentation session in which you can exhibit a research poster (from a previous conference or as an exercise for an upcoming conference) and discuss your research with your PhD peers from all MGS institutions. We will prioritize applicants who are willing to present a poster on the day. The event will be held in-person at the Great Hall, in the Trent Building of the University of Nottingham

If you are interested in presenting a poster, please send us a brief abstract (max 250 words) of your poster via the application form as well. You can use a poster you already presented at a previous conference or design one to present for a future conference as well. There are no registration fees for this event. A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. We also have a limited number of funding vouchers available for those of you travelling from outside of the University of Nottingham and for poster presenters to print their posters. This means that you can receive a £10 reimbursement for any RTSG spend, do let us know in advance if you would like to use this.
