Applied Epistemology Workshop: Part 3

Applied Epistemology Workshop 3: Share, Discuss & Develop Your Research

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to discuss your individual doctoral research project with experienced philosophers specialising in epistemology and ontology. You will be invited to share your project idea and related philosophical issues with ESRC doctoral peers. Building on Part 1 and Part 2 of this workshop series, this session focuses on connecting previous discussions and insights to your own research.

Resource and Structure

This is an online Teams workshop which will run on Tuesday 28th October from 10-12 pm and then 1-3 pm.
It is open to those who attended both or either part 1 or part 2 of the workshop series.

The session will be conducted in a World Café style format, combining small group discussions with whole-group conversations. This format provides valuable space not only to share your ideas but also to learn from your peers and the facilitators’ expertise.

While facilitators will guide the discussions, participants are expected to actively contribute by presenting their work and engaging with others, ensuring a collaborative and dynamic exchange of ideas.

The facilitators of this workshop are members of the academic and research community within the Department of Philosophy at the University of Nottingham. The workshop will be led by Professor Andrew Fisher.

Prior to attending this workshop, you will need to complete the MS Form linked below. In this form, you will be asked to provide a ‘rough sketch’ outline or abstract of your doctoral research project. The outline or abstract will be centred on philosophy of social science issues. So, for example, you will need to provide your research question(s), methods and make some statement about epistemological and ontological issues you are dealing with.

How to Attend

Complete the online MS Forms. You will be sent a calendar invitation ahead of the day with the how to join details.
