Katy Brookfield
Thesis Title: Exploring technology facilitated domestic abuse in the UK.
Katy is conducting mixed methods research seeking to understand more about women's experiences of technology facilitated domestic abuse in the UK, and the ability of specialist services to meet their needs and offer support. The research comprises of interviews with specialist domestic abuse workers, interviews with victim-survivors of technology facilitated domestic abuse, and a survey with victim-survivors of technology facilitated domestic abuse.
Biography
Katy holds a first class honours degree in Criminology from the University of Lincoln (2017), and an MA with distinction in Social Sciences Research (Social Policy and Social Work) from the University of Nottingham (2020). Katy started her PhD at the University of Nottingham in 2020, on the Social Work pathway.
In between her BA and MA, Katy worked in Student Services at the University of Lincoln, developing support for student survivors of sexual misconduct.
Katy has acted as module convenor on the Gender and Violence module at the University of Lincoln (UG Level 3, 20/21) and the restorative Justice module at the University of Nottingham (UG Level 3, 21/22), and has also taught workshops on the MA module Gender, Deviance, Crime and Society at the University of Lincoln (20/21).
