Thesis Title: Widening Participation and Social Justice in Higher Education: An International Comparison of Inequalities, Policies and Student Experiences
This project will focus on two European countries, England and Poland, and will explore their particular contexts and efforts to address social justice in their Higher Education (HE) systems, through examining patterns of access, policies, institutional practices, and the student experience. Its ultimate objective will be to make a contribution to the body of knowledge around social justice and widening participation in HE, and to inform the development of recommendations for fairer HE policies at national and institutional levels.
Biography
Marta studied for a BA in Experimental Psychology and an MA in Language, Mind and Communication. Her professional background is in Learning Development, where she worked in a number of roles to develop students’ academic literacies and skills, and ease their transition to HE. Her desire and ambition is to investigate the root causes and barriers faced by young people and students in accessing and succeeding in HE, and to contribute to the enhancement of social justice in the education sector.
