Thesis Title: Banter and Bullying in Youth Community Football

The aim of this project is to use a mixed methods approach to explore banter and bullying in youth community football. Specifically, the project will look at how banter and bullying are understood, the extent of related behaviours and the outcomes of these behaviours.

Biography

Robert gained his first degree in BSc Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences at Brunel University London, graduating with First Class Honours in 2020. He then went on to complete a Master’s degree in MSc Social Science Research (Sport and Exercise) with distinction at Loughborough University in 2021. Currently, Robert is undertaking a full-time PhD following his passion for research gained after experience as a research assistant. Robert is an experienced youth sports coach, having worked in primary schools across Kent. He achieved numerous FA qualifications in football coaching and refereeing while becoming a qualified personal trainer during his first degree.
