Jack Connolly, MIBTP 2013 student based at Birmingam was part of a team that won the Post-graduate Enterprise Summer School, a course he took part in as part of the PGCARMS at Birmingham. This is a 5 day course is to foster enterprise skills among PhD students by teaching some basics of setting up a business (finance, marketing and pitching to investors) and actually developing and setting up a fictitious business to address a problem. The team's challenge was to come up with a product or service that would address the reduced productivity and wellbeing among the “mobile-workforce”. At the end of the week they pitched their product (a clinically-approved mental-health wellbeing tracker) to a panel and won! The panel were impressed with their idea, team-work and pitch. As part of the prize, the team won some Amazon vouchers and a trip to London to pitch their idea at an Innovate UK Catapult event.
