Tommy Karikari teaching and course organisation and outreach activites
As well as undertaking his PhD, Tommy has also been involved in organising and teaching at international courses, as follows:
- 12/2016 – Chair of the Organising Committee and instructor, “IBRO- and ISN-funded Advanced School on the neurological aspects of infectious diseases, Ghana”
- 12/2015 – Co-organiser and instructor, EU-funded “Fly Neuroscience Workshop: Drosophila as a tool for understanding brain and behaviour,” Kumasi, Ghana
- 07/2016 – Co-organiser, “TReNDinAfrica Whole Exome Sequencing Data Analysis workshop,” Kumasi, Ghana
He has also organised, and continues to be involved in, several outreach activities in Africa, including scientists-in-the classroom events, teacher training in lab skills programmes, and outreach training for undergrads. A few of these projects have led to publications in education journals (see Publications below.
