Jonathan Smith, Leicester 2013 student, has won two writing prizes, which he attributes to the experience he gained during his PIPS placement in the editing team at Research Media Ltd during his training year.
Anna Gonzalez Gil wins poster prize
Anna Gonzalez Gil, Warwick 2015 student, was awarded 1st Prize for the Poster presentation at the SCI Young Researches in Crop Sciences (14th of July of 2016).
Thomas Karikari - invited speaker
Tommy, a 2013 cohort Warwick student, was invited by The Physiology Society and the American Physiological Society to present his experience in science communication training and activity development in Africa.
Julia Lipecki - published paper
Julia Lipecki, Warwick 2015 student, was 2nd author on a paper, published as a result of her mini-project; which was undertaken during her training year of the MIBTP programme.

Alexandra Matthews, Birmingham 2014 student, has has three publications over the last year.

MIBTP success at Student Symposium
MIBTP students won numerous awards at the recent Warwick School of Life Sciences Student Symposium.
Dan Cooper - published paper
Dan Cooper, a Warwick MIBTP student in the 2015 cohort, recently co-authored a paper on eNeuro.
Jack Connolly - Post-graduate Enterprise Summer School
Jack Connolly, MIBTP 2013 student based at Birmingam was part of a team that won the Post-graduate Enterprise Summer School, a course he took part in as part of the PGCARMS at Birmingham.
MIBTP success at the Biotechnology Yes Competition
Charlotte Rich, Maura DiMartino, Elspeth Ransom win at the Biotechnology Yes Competition.
Jonathan Smith wins 1st prize
Jonathan Smith, MIBTP 2013 cohort Leicester student, has just been awarded 1st prize at the Royal Entomological Society student awards. The completition criteria was to write an article about an entomological topic that would be of interest to the general public. Jonathan's winning entry was entitled Bombardier beetles: Superheroes of the insect world for which he won £400.
Biotechnology Yes - Final
Inara Liepina, Leicester 2014 MIBTP student, is part of a group who have won their regional heat to reach the final of the Biotechnology Yes competition in London next month.
Inara and her team mates (Leicester students Akang E. Ekpenyong-Akiba, Razif Abas and Meetal S. Solanki) who named themselves the Hotbronze Product Group, formulated a novel self-tanning lotion (CareTan) that can stimulate melanocytes to produce more melanin, giving rise to an even and long lasting skin tan.
Hotbronze Product Group were one of two winning teams from their heat who will now compete at the final on 5th December 2016 in London.
Ruth Pauli - published paper
Ruth Pauli, an MIBTP 2015 student based at the University of Birmingham, has had a paper published on the National Center for Biotechnology Information website in the journal Frontiers in Neuroinformatics.
The paper was a result of Ruth's first mini-project placement with Professor Thomas Nicholls, which she undertook at the University of Warwick during her training year.
The paper, entitled, Exploring fMRI Results Space: 31 Variants of an fMRI Analysis in AFNI, FSL, and SPM, can be viewed on the NCBI website.
MIBTP 2016 cohort
The 2016 cohort have just begun their training on the MIBTP programme with 60 students across the three Universities joining us this year.
The student have already undertaken an intensive induction week at the University of Warwick and are now part way through the taught module element of their training year.
We wish the new students the best of luck with their training.
MIBTP winners at the Warwick Student Symposium
MIBTP students were successful once again at this years Warwick School of Life Sciences Student Symposium.
Natasha Dzimitrowicz (2013 cohort; pictured with her poster) won one of the best poster prizes, an award of £25. Kathryn Styles (2012 cohort) won a £50 award for one of the five best seminars as voted for by students; as did Mussa Quareshy (2012 cohort) who also won best seminar as voted for by SLS staff (an award of £50).
