Project Description Criteria

UKRI is transitioning to a new studentship data portal called 'The Funding Service' (TFS), to collect data on UKRI funded studentships. In preparation for this transition, we need to ensure that project titles and summaries meet the criteria to be uploaded onto this new portal. Please ensure that the project summaries that you upload meet the criteria below.

Criteria

Project titles and summaries should be short, factual and easy to understand. They should avoid jargon and be written in the knowledge that they are publicly accessible and searchable.

Project Title

The project title should be a maximum of 150 characters, including spaces. This should not include the description of the studentship scheme and should be unique to the project.

Project Summary

  • Maximum of 2,000 characters (including spaces and returns)
  • Only the standard Je-S characterLink opens in a new window set should be used.
  • No specialist characters and symbols (e.g. mathematical symbols) because these may not transfer successfully to other computer systems.
  • Summaries should be written in plain English and provide a high-level summary of the research topic, the aims and objectives, relevant technical terms and the methodology to be used.
