Research Interests
My research interests primarily focus on environmental and industrial biotechnology, particularly the development of sustainable biological approaches for critical and precious metal recovery from waste. I am interested in bioleaching, microbial metal dissolution, bioprocess optimisation, and the recovery of valuable resources from e-waste, Li-ion batteries, LEDs and industrial residues. I use an interdisciplinary approach combining microbiology, genetic engineering, bioprocess engineering and analytical chemistry to develop scalable solutions for resource recovery, waste valorisation, and the circular economy.
Scientific Inspiration
My scientific inspiration is Marie Curie, whose curiosity, perseverance and commitment to scientific discovery continue to inspire me. I admire her pioneering work and her determination to pursue research that has had a lasting impact on science and society.
