Research Interests

  • Oligodendrocyte and myelin plasticity.
  • Live-imaging oligodendrocyte development and myelination.
  • Single particle tracking of myelin proteins.
  • Modelling oligodendrocyte development, injury and repair in brain slice culture models.
Current Projects
  • Modelling complement-mediated myelin injury in the CNS.

Scientific Inspiration

Eric Kandel. Kandel’s research into synaptic plasticity and memory formation in the sea mollusc Aplysia inspired me to study fundamental questions in neuroscience and, to do so using simplified in vitro / ex vivo models. I love the reductionist approach!
