Xavier Didelot has arrived
I'm pleased to say that Xavier Didelot has just arrived to take up his joint Professorship in Statistics and Life Sciences. He has timed his move to perfection, so that he goes straight into the new Mathematical Sciences building. He is in room 5.16
Xavier analyses genomic data to better understand bacterial evolution, epidemiology, ecology and pathogenicity. As such he bridges between the systems biology and epidemiology arms of SBIDER
Erin Gorsich has arrived.
I'm pleased to say that Erin Gorsich has just arrived to take up her Assistant Lectureship position in Life Sciences. She will be in room 331 of Senate House, until we move to the new building.
Erin is a disease ecologist with broad interests in infection dynamics, wildlife health, and conservation.

James & Matt win £2M funding to support East African research.
The NIHR has just announced £40m into world class research through its Global Health Research (GHR) Programme. One of the successful bids is by James Nokes and Matt Keeling whose GeMVi project will:
- engage health authorities and institutes, identify priority questions and link output to policy;
- fund 20+ high calibre Research Fellows on locally relevant projects;
- transfer sequencing technologies, share bioinformatic methods and develop modelling capacity;
- generate new understanding through predictive modelling and virus sequence data
They are currently looking to recruit 2 PDRA positions in Warwick, as well as seeking applications from East African researchers who would benfit from 4-9 months of training in these areas. Further details will be available from the GeMVi web-page.
