Next Steps in Choosing your PhD
Choosing your PhD can be a daunting task. There is lots of information available, but it may be hard to make sense of it all. Below are some simple steps you can take if you are interested with undertaking a PhD with members of SBIDER:
- Think about your strengths, what you enjoyed and what you have performed well at during your degree and general education.
- Think about what research areas excite you. It's good to have motivation to undertake your research.
- The SBIDER people pages will give you some ideas of what our academics currently do, but many will have other interests as well.
- Contact one (or more) SBIDER members, we should be able to help you navigate the complexities of applying for a PhD position and funding. Feel free to copy more than one person into the email, we can then co-ordinate.
- Remember to say who you are, what subject you are currently taking & where.
- Also include what your interests and strengths are, and why you are interested in a PhD in a particular area.
- We also need to know your nationality to help navigate funding criteria
- Ideally attach a short 1-3 page (CV) as that will help guide the process.
5. We cannot promise to fund every interested candidate, but we will try to work with you to make the most use of opportunites.
