Professor Magnus Richardson

My research is in the field of theoretical neuroscience. I develop mathematical models of activity in the brain, work with experimentalists studying the processes of neurodegenerative diseases and have a general interest in theories of artificial and natural intelligence. I currently teach two modules: MA398 covering advanced linear algebra for numerical computing and MA4M9 on models of neuronal networks. During 2016-2020, I was the Director of the Mathematics for Real-World Systems Centre for Doctoral Training. I led the successful UKRI-funded £5M competitive renewal for an additional 50 PhD studentships that currently funds the CDT up until 2028. I continue to support the Centre as Deputy Director.
