Teaching & Outreach

Katharina teaches at the moment in the "CH160: Introduction to Inorganic Chemistry" undergraduate module and in the energy modules CH416 and CH3F7. Furthermore, she is involved in the lab courses CH155 "Practical and Professional Chemistry Skills I" and CH915 "Techniques in Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis" as well as in tutorials of CH273 "Statistical Mechanics & Properties of Solutions and Foundations of Electrochemistry". If you have any questions regarding teaching materials and content, please email Katharina or take a look at the respective module information on Moodle.

The Brinkert Group has always been very interested in developing new teaching methods and organize and participate in outreach activities. Here is a colorful selection of activities which have already taken place and which are currently going on!

Do you know Sophie?Sophie

Katharina is part of a team containing scientists and artists who work on an animated short-film about solar fuels. Take a look at our homepage to explore our Martian girl Sophie and her dream to generate solar fuels on Mars! We always welcome new storyboard artists and screenplay writers, please get in touch if you are interested in being part of the team.

SolEn for a Sustainable Future

In spring 2012, Katharina co-designed and organized an interdisciplinary postgraduate course on solar energy at Uppsala University, Sweden, in close collaboration with the Centre for Environment and Development Studies (Solen is Swedish for "the sun"; we took it short for "Solar Energy"). The course focused on a variety of topics related to solar energy from science, politics, industry and law. We invited everybody interested in the course topic to participate and opened some lectures to the public. The course was a great success and we are very interested in running it again in a similar format.

National Science and Technology Fair 2011, Bangkok

Katharina has a huge passion for science fairs and she co-organized the German Pavilion at the Thai National Science and Technology Fair 2011 together with the German Embassy Bangkok, featuring experiments on natural photosynthesis. It was great fun and pleasure to work with everybody!
