These are photos of projects that have been designed and built by Engineering Students with the help of Workshops Technicians.
These are some of the air engines designed and built by first year students.
The purpose of this exercise was to give students experience in the engineering disciplines of design and manufacture and the application of materials.
The variations on the theme to produce rotary motion from compressed air were very diverse, some quite novel and challenging approaches presented some interesting manufacturing problems for technicians and students.
A fun element to these projects was a competition to see which motor ran the fastest. Many interesting and innovative ideas were proposed, some were very successful and ran at amazing speeds.
