Abstract

The application of epidemiological models to data is demonstrated using three examples: respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), rubella (German measles) and rotavirus. Different aspects of immunity are explored within these frameworks leading to hypotheses on the way individual hosts’ responses to infection affect the transmission of the disease in their population.
