The Big Baby Trial is to find out if starting labour earlier than usual, at 38 weeks, makes it less likely that shoulder dystocia will happen in women whose babies appear to be bigger than expected.
This new Centre is a hub of multidisciplinary expertise, pioneering research that will lead to more successful pregnancies, better health for parents and children, and new treatments and tests.
Partnering with industry and the UHCW NHS Trust, the Centre will accelerate the development of new clinical tests and treatments and support education and training of healthcare staff.
