Accommodation

It depends on what your biggest priorities are!

There's no single right answer, as it changes with what you need.

Maybe consider...

  • Ease, total time, and cost of commute (vs cost of housing)
  • The closer you live to WMS, the (slightly) more you can claim for NHSBSA travel expenses from Phase II
    • And the more time you have for rest or study
  • Want to live with other medics? Non-medic students? Professionals? Alone? With family or a partner?
  • Parking options? Bike lanes? Bus routes?
  • Total control of your own bills, happy to negotiate with housemates, or just leave it to the landlord?
  • If looking to buy, remember the process can take months longer than your solicitor says - are you happy to wait in an uncertain rental?

Common areas...

  • Canley - Lower cost, larger houseshares, close to WMS, popular student area
  • Earlsdon - Lower cost, small to large houseshares, close to WMS and the city centre, very popular student and social area
  • Tile Hill - Low-mid cost, large houseshares or flats, close to WMS
  • Cheylesmore / Binley - Low-mid cost, between WMS and UHCW, more suburban area
  • Kenilworth - Higher cost, historical with lots of green spaces, close to WMS, less availability
  • Leamington Spa - Higher cost, typically nicer, good social area, further WMS commute, close to SWFT, more popular with professionals or postgrad students

  • Live with other MB ChB students
    • Occasionally other postgrads
  • All bills and contents insurance included
  • All campus facilities on your door step
  • 24/7 support from Residential Community Team and Community Safety
  • Residence Hubs for socialising
  • Flexible cancellation terms if your student status changes, i.e. don't receive immigration permission, don't end up studying at Warwick, or you defer

Booking Process

  • Is instant, straightforward, and no deposit needed
  • Separate process if you have specific accommodation requirements, i.e. a disability
    • If you need support with your allocation for such reasons, the deadline for 2024 is July 24th

  Tip

You can also apply to be an RCALink opens in a new window, and they love med students! You'll live on campus; in a solo flat or share with 1 other RCA; work about 15 hours p/week for minimum wage, which about covers the rent (£120-£170 p/week); and have the other benefits of campus accommodation, such as the close location and facilities. If you have accommodation on campus already, they'll just transfer your contract!

Note though that you must start in the 1st week they do, early September, and your contract typically follows the main campus contract lengths, so you may need to arrange somewhere else for 2 months in summer.
