The following resources will be Helpful throughout phase 1. They are divided below according to the different themes and will recur in each block.

Block specific resource timeline

•The following timeline gives you an overview of resources you can use in each Block in phase 1.
•These are in addition to the resources (applicable to each and every block) given in the previous resources
•Where necessary – allusions to resources given above have been given with coloured boxes
•Please remember that WMS specific resources (Lectures and workshops) are mandatory and highly recommended for each block. Resources below are purely additional.

Anatomy Resource Links

Grey's anatomy for students

Grey's anatomy for students is a resource available to all Warwick Medical Students from Elsevier's Clinical Key.

This is a great resource to supplement and provide context for the anatomy learning you recieve from lectures.

This resource subscription is Provided by the University through the Elsevier resource and the University of Warwick Library.

Netter's Anatomy Atlas

Another Great Resource

Netter's Anatomy Atlas provides more realistic drawings of human anatomy, which help you pinpoint locations on the plastinates and medical images more accurately.

It is also a great resource to understand how the course of many anatomical structures flows.

This resource subscription is Provided by the University through the Elsevier resource and the University of Warwick Library.

Acland's Anatomy

A video atlas

Robert Acland walks through anatomical structures in various body systems.

He carefully uses dissected video specimens to show you where structures start, their insertion points and their course across the body.

The quizzes section helps re-affirm understanding and is invaluable practice leading up to phase 1 exams.

This resource subscription is provided by the University. It is a great resource you can use while being a student here. All aspects of this resource can be accessed through your university subscription.

Kenhub

Anatomy and physiology resources free:

You can now access anatomy and physiology knowledge and information about different structures in the body, how they relate to each other, their insertion points, end points, functions and surface anatomy landmarks.

Anatomy and physiology resources paid:

500 quizzes that range from beginner to an advanced level. These allow you to test your knowledge on identifying structures, understanding origins, insertions and functions.

 

Exam preparation quizzes that allow you to build your own quiz from different topics so you can tailor your preparation to any upcoming tests or exams.

 

Spaced repetition type study sessions which allow you to learn and understand key facts from any topic.

The theory aspect of this resource is free and available to use by all interent users. However the questions, exam quizzes, and spaced repetition is available behind a paywall.

Physiopedia

Physiopedia is a free online resource that is particularly useful for phase 1 block 4 and block 5.

It helps to underly each muscle that is important and relevant for clinical anatomy. It identifies muscle insertion points, origins, functions and nerve supply.

Physiopedia also has helpful videos on how to test the function of important muscles that you may come across during clinical bedside examinations.

The theory aspect of this resource is free and available to use by all internet users. However, the AI resources and quizzes are behind a paywall that students would need to self-subscribe to.

Osmosis

Osmosis is an American-based educational platform that provides a visual way to learn and retain medical information. However, please note that it is geared towards students studying for the USMLE instead of the UKMLA.

 

It provides fast and concise animated videos to create memory anchors as well as to simplify the most complex concepts.

 

There are also additional resources, such as easy-to-follow decision-making trees, to help you with clinical reasoning.

 

Additionally, to test your knowledge, there are exam-board-style questions which you can do system-wise or do in the form of a customizable quiz (based on topics you want to study).

 

However, Osmosis is a platform that you would have to purchase individually. They do allow a free trial for 7 days to see if you would like their product.

 

Some osmosis videos about certain medical conditions are uploaded to YouTube for free by the official channel.
