Clinical Audit

Clinical Audit

A Clinical Audit is a quality improvement process that measures current patient care and outcomes against agreed standards of best practice.

As part of your GP placement in Phase 2, you are required to conduct a clinical audit. You can conduct the audit with your clinical partner, however the final report must be written individually.

You may identify an area of interest to conduct your clinical audit on.If you have a topic in mind, feel free to discuss it with the GP practice you will be at.

Alternatively see if there are any audit topics which the GP practice have identified that need help carrying out.

Advice from Previous Years

Get started as soon as you can

The clinical audit is a less daunting assignment than one might expect, however it is important to get started as soon as you can.

Make the most out of it!

Consider what you want to get out of it. If you plan on re-auditing to complete the audit cycle, then make sure it's something you're interested in!

Ask your GP practice for ideas

Most GP placements will have had lots of students come through who need an audit and will likely already have an idea of what they'd like you to do.
