Wednesday seminar sign up page
The seminars are student led events and so please form small groups - each group member needs to take on one of the following responsibilities:
- Host the speaker before the seminar (meet them when they arrive in the dept and ensure that they get some lunch) and following the seminar.
- Ensure that a computer is set up ready for the speaker to use – either their own or the spare MOAC laptop.
- Introduce the speaker to the audience at the start of the seminar.
- Chair the post presentation discussion. The Chair will need to have gained familiarity with the speakers research area and have a few questions ready to ask them in case there are none from the floor (2 members of the group can sign up for this responsibility).
Each student (MScs and PhDs) will need to help out once a year as a minimum. Given that there are 84 students and about 21 seminars each year, 3 or 4 of you will need to sign up for each seminar.
Additionally, in order to take real control of this event, please make suggestions for speakers. These could be internal to Warwick or external from anywhere in the UK (there is some money available to pay for reasonable travel expenses). It would be nice if you can invite someone whose research you are interested in and host them for the day or part of the day.
