Pain Self Perception Scale - Self-administration tool
Please note: These questions are not kept or submitted to any third party. This scale is designed to be done by individuals on their own to indicate whether they might experience high levels of mental defeat and would therefore benefit from discussing this further with a health professional. Scoring 15 or higher on this scale is a good indication that an individual might experience higher levels of mental defeat and might benefit from further discussion with a health professional.
Each adjective in the PSPS is awarded the following score:
0- Not at all/ Never
1- Very little
2- Moderately
3- Strongly
4- Very strongly
The total score can be calculated by adding the responses to the 24 items, resulting in a score between 0 and 96.
