Parturition in mammalian species is mediated by a complex interplay of hormonal, mechanical, and biophysical factors that culminate in expulsion of the foetus. The steroid hormone progesterone is key to the regulation of the molecular changes that drive the onset of labour . Progesterone is essential for the maintenance of pregnancy in mammalian species and is currently the first line treatment for the prevention of preterm labour in singleton pregnancies in humans.

This project aims to investigate the effect of withdrawing progesterone on the transcriptome of uterine tissues in rats.
