Background

As an undergraduate I read Neuroscience at Sussex University graduating in 2000 with a BSc hons 2i. I then took up a position as a medical microbiologist at Royal Sussex County Hospital. Whilst working there I undertook a part time MSc in Biomedical Science and subsequently qualified as a state registered biomedical scientist specialising in microbiology.

Following this I spent a fantastic five years living, travelling and working in Egypt before coming back to the UK to give birth to my son Alexander.

In 2011 I enrolled as an MSc student at Warwick university in the Systems Biology Doctoral Training Centre. I have found the most challenging, inspiring and interesting ascpects of my carreers so far was research, thus I joined the SBDTC with the aim of developing a research lead career.

In 2012 I embarked on my research career starting a Phd in Alternative Splicing in Plant Defence.
