RSC Lecture - Prof. Phil Bartlett, Southampton

Professor Phil Bartlett (Southampton) is the RSC speaker on Thurs 4th March, at 4.15pm in PLT (Science Concourse) arrive 4.00 pm for refreshments

Prof. Bartlett has wide-ranging interests in analytical chemistry. Phil's first academic position was as a lecturer at Warwick (1984-91). He is well known as a pioneer of electronic noses with Julian Gardner (from his time at Warwick), enzyme electrochemistry, bioelectrochemistry, polymer modified electrodes and nanostructured interfaces. The latter work - published in Science - led to the successful spinout, Nanotecture (http://www.nanotecture.co.uk/Home.aspx).

Phil is a past winner of the Tajima Prize from the International Society of Electrochemistry, the Armstrong Lectureship from the Society of Chemical Industry, the Geoffrey Barker Medal from the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Electrodeposition Award of the Electrochemical Society, the Carl Wagner Medal of the Electrochemical Society, and the Katsumi Niki Prize of the International Society of Electrochemistry. Most recently he was the 2009/2010 Tilden Award winner from the RSC.

Phil will give a lecture on "Molecular Electrochemistry: Modification, Mediation and Design of Electrode Surfaces" and the topic should be of wide interest. Please circulate to people you think may be interested.
