International Women's Day 2019

WMG in partnership with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are delighted to welcome Dr Emily Grossman to the University of Warwick in celebration of International Women's Day 2019.

Dr Emily Grossman is an internationally acclaimed science author, public speaker and TV personality. She is an expert in molecular biology and genetics, with a Double First in Natural Sciences from Queens' College Cambridge and a PhD in cancer research.

Emily will speak about her varied career as a scientist, actress, teacher, writer and broadcaster. She asks what it takes to succeed in your chosen profession and discusses the challenges she has faced as a woman in STEM and the lessons she has learnt along the way - exploring the ideas of success, fear of failure, changing path, resilience, confidence, imposter syndrome, unconscious bias, sexism, online abuse, self-care and personal growth. Emily also asks what it takes to be a scientist - is it really all about brains, confidence and logic? What about creativity, imagination, team work, compassion and sensitivity? And is it OK to get things wrong?

Emily’s energy and enthusiasm for science and STEM shines through. She is an extremely engaging speaker - a true motivator encouraging everyone to believe in themselves and follow their passion.”
