Testing that mirrors industry conditions

The Advanced Materials Manufacturing Centre (AMMC) was launched at WMG in 2016 and provides a place for our researchers to test the feasibility and stability of new manufacturing and assembly processes. The make-like production facility provides the ideal testing arena, ensuring that trials of new processes can be done under real operational conditions and production rates.

Transforming the UK steel industry

Also housing the Applications Facility and the Advanced Steel Research Centre (ASRC), this building provides our researchers with the environment needed to develop new processing techniques in a bid to transform the (UK) steel industry. An emphasis is placed on developing innovative solutions that bring us closer to delivering a low energy, resilient manufacturing base for high value-added advanced steels, focusing on strip steels in particular.
