The International Institute for Nanocomposites Manufacturing (IINM) was constructed in 2014 and explores polymer processing techniques to enable scale up and commercialisation of products. This enables industry to innovate through their manufacturing technologies to produce polymer nanocomposites. This building is also home to the Nanocomposites Research Group, which focuses on the manufacture of Nanocomposites by adopting a holistic approach. The Institute houses state-of-the-art facilities including characterisation laboratories, a wet chemistry laboratory, processing hall, research space and offices. A team of 50 academics and researchers work collaboratively here with other academic groups and industrial partners, both national and international, on research projects in the field on nanocomposites with application in a broad range of industries, including telecommunications, electronics, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive, security and medicine.
