Topics under discussion ranged from the historical roots of vaccine hesitancy in Germany to the effects of women-led protests on political participation in Nigeria to effects of regulating the sex trade in 19th century Britain among many others.

Bishnupriya Gupta said:

This was one of the most exciting conferences in economy history. Participants came from different parts of the world and presented their research on Britain, Germany, United States, China, India, Ethiopia and Nigeria as well as cross country comparisons. Their shared interest in the role of culture and institutions, in understanding economic development and the use of new types of data, led to a fruitful exchange of ideas and the venue provided a perfect setting.”
