Warwick Econ Sounds: The Economics of Diet and Health

Dr Thijs van Rens discusses how people’s diets are affected by their income levels and the area they live in. Is the obesity epidemic due to people’s choices and preferences, or is it caused by factors in the external environment such as the price and availability of food? To what extent should policymakers intervene?

People won't get 'tired' of social distancing – the government is wrong to suggest otherwise

Expert Comment: Brexit Day - what next for the UK?

Negotiations expert Professor Abhinay Muthoo comments on the immediate priorities after the UK leaves the EU this evening:

“Brexit will happen this evening at 11pm GMT. In many ways it will be a sad moment, and many will have mixed emotions. That said, the UK now needs to focus sharply on its future, and to work out how, in this new world, it can secure prosperity for all its citizens. That is of first-order importance."

EPP Director Prof Christoph Hoerl Co-Authors Article in Behavioral and Brain Sciences

EPP Director Prof Christoph Hoerl has co-authored an article "Thinking in and about Time: A Dual Systems Perspective on Temporal Cognition" published in the journal Behavioral and Brain Sciences in December 2019 (written together with Teresa McCormack from the School of Psychology at Queen's University Belfast). This is accompanied by 33 commentaries on the article written by philosophers and researchers working in comparative, developmental and cognitive psychology, as well as by a response to those commentaries by Christoph and Teresa.
