Sport and the European Union
10 years after Bosman: Situation and perspectives
Workshop at Loughborough University, 30 June-1 July
Sport&Eu (the Association for the Study of Sport in the European Union) together with the Department of Politics, International Relations and European Studies at Loughborough University organises on 30 June and 1 July a workshop on 'Sport and the European Union, 10 years after Bosman: the situation and the perspectives'.
The workshop aims to assess the origins, current status and possible future developments of the European Union's involvement in sport-related matters and to review the state of academic research on the topic, ten years after the Bosman ruling. The objective of the workshop is to have a lively debate and exchange of ideas on the topic. Discussants will be invited to give even more feed-back to paper givers.
The organisers invite submission of abstracts on the theme of the workshop that fall into the following categories: 'Sports policy and governance', 'Sports law and regulation' and 'Sports in society'. The organisers would particularly like to encourage papers that do not only focus on football and that come from a wide range of academic perspectives. Theoretical contributions are welcome as well.
Papers presented at the workshop will be considered for inclusion in a special issue of the on-line Journal of Contemporary European Research (JCER) to be published in 2007, which will be discussed during the workshop.
In the medium term, this and other future workshops of Sport&Eu are also intended to provide the basis for a text book on the EU and Sport.
Abstracts (no longer than 250 words), together with the author's institutional affiliation and contact details should be sent before 15 March 2006 to workshop@sportandeu.com
