Warwick Network for Equity & Exchange in Climate Governance & Strategy (NEXUS)
What we do:
The Warwick Climate Governance and Policy Nexus (NEXUS) aims to build bridges not only between departments at Warwick and external stakeholders, including policymakers, climate negotiators and civil society groups. NEXUS will do this by improving the flow of evidence between researchers and external stakeholders. We do this through three strategic strands:
Impact Outputs
A range of short, accessible resources are being produced to help researchers understand how multilateral institutions work. They also offer an overview of viewpoints relating to the key debates. Through a series of short blogs we will also be attempting to make complex arguments more accessible. Finally, we are looking to create a series of policy briefs that consolidate the work of researchers at Warwick and our our partners, notably those from the global south into a format accessible to negotiators at multilateral institutions.
Capacity Building
Training sessions have been created where researchers can learn more about multilateral institutions. This shows them the format that research outputs should take to be relevant to multilateral organisations. It also shows them the ways in which they should engage with the processes of multilateral organisations if they want their work to be adopted.
Knowledge Brokering
The project has created a series of spaces where researchers and policymakers can meet to partake in knowledge exchange activities. We have run a multi-stakeholder conference in March 2025 at The Shard for international researchers, policymakers and industry. This initiative has also been supported by a seminar series considering five key themes for debate ahead of COP 30.
