1001 Days - Setting the Foundations for Life

Description:

The perspective taken within the event will be driven by our committed pursuit to promote the voices and needs of our youngest members of society in all matters impacting upon them. This is accompanied by the prioritisation of building a sustainable infrastructure and cross-Government strategy through which to address factors relating to health and wellbeing, the early childhood workforce and the role of preventative services. During this event, our speakers and attendees will explore these contemporary priorities, as well as some of the persistent challenges in supporting babies and their families. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear about the latest strategies and approaches to best practice.

The event is for Early Childhood Degree students across HEIs, Infant and Family Mental Health and Wellbeing students and practitioners, Students at FE and Adult Community Education provision, Early Childhood Professionals working in practice, Early Childhood Lecturers and Researchers, Parents and Family Support Services.

The panel of speakers and the title of their presentations can be found below, the discussion will be chaired by Dr Charlotte Jones, Associate Professor and Director of Child and Family Provision (University of Warwick.)

The outcome of the event will be that attendees will share and broaden their understanding of:
  • The fragmentation and patchwork of different approaches taken by different services in supporting babies and their families
  • Aspirations and challenges in policy developments
  • The benefit of developing and enacting a joined-up, holistic strategy to baby and family support
  • The importance of investing in prevention and early childhood learning
