Great Thinkers Series

Great Thinkers Series

I had a Departmental Student Research Assistant, Greg Kirby, working with me during academic year 2014/2015. Greg recorded me in conversation with a number of my academic colleagues in the Department of Politics and International Studies when we have been talking about some of the most influential thinkers in the history of economic thought. In particular, we have discussed the way in which the most influential economists have conceived of market relations and market institutions. Greg then wrote some of the conversations up into a series of features which have been posted on the Departmental website.

The links below will become active once Greg has had the time to complete the individual features.

Feature 1 is on Karl Polanyi (with Ben Clift and Christopher Holmes). Feature 2 is on Adam Smith (with Chris Clarke and Simon Glaze). Feature 3 is on Thorstein Veblen (with Chris Clarke and Simon Glaze). Feature 4 is on William Stanley Jevons and William James (with Chris Clarke and Simon Glaze). Feature 5 is on the Austro-German Methodenstreit (with Chris Clarke and Simon Glaze). Feature 6 is on Léon Walras (with Chris Clarke and Simon Glaze).
