Joel Quirk

Dr Joel Quirk is a Senior Associate Fellow in the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation and is Professor and Head of Department of Political Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Before moving to South Africa Dr Quirk was the Deputy Director of the Wilberforce Institute for the study of Slavery and Emancipation, University of Hull, United Kingdom. He is currently a member of the International Scientific Committee of the UNESCO Slave Route Project, where he serves as Rapporteur.
