You will have the opportunity to participate in event in our expert research centres and groups like: Ethics, Law and Public Affairs, Interdisciplinary Ethics, Political Economy and Public Economies, Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy. You'll also be part of a close-knit PPE community of staff and students, including the PPE Society.

Our departments are internationally renowned for their teaching and research. Philosophy is ranked in the Top 10 departments in the UK by the Times/Sunday Times and Complete University Guide. Politics and International Studies is named as one of the UK’s ‘Big Five’ politics departments by the Political Studies Association and ranked Number One among Politics departments in the UK by The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019. Politics and Economics have both been ranked in the top 50 QS World University Rankings. Economics is currently ranked 3rd in the UK in The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019.

The three PPE departments performed excellently in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014). Politics and International Studies ranked 1st for Research Environment, Philosophy was rated 1st in the UK for research output with 90% of publications judged internationally excellent or world leading, and Economics had 96% of its research rated World Leading or Internationally Excellent, and it was ranked joint second nationally. Our departments therefore attract top researchers and top postgraduate students from around the world.
