Faculty of Social Sciences UG Research Scheme

Introduction

In 2021, first and intermediate year undergraduate students in participating departments* have the opportunity to get involved in a new vacation research experience scheme being supported by the Faculty of Social Sciences. Participants will gain experience of collaborative, interdisciplinary research and develop a wide range of skills relevant to postgraduate study and graduate careers.

What does this scheme consist of?

  • You will work collaboratively on a small group research project across disciplinary and departmental boundaries
  • Your research team will receive supervision and guidance from expert academic staff in the social sciences, and will have access to a project budget to cover research expenses
  • You will work virtually, enabling you to combine participation with your other vacation commitments
  • You will also have the option of benefiting from Associate status in the University’s Research Support Scheme (URSS); this will provide you with access to a range of supplementary learning resources and an online community of peers across Warwick

Am I eligible?

In order to participate in this scheme, you must:

  • be a current first or intermediate year undergraduate student whose home department is one of the following: Applied Linguistics, Centre for Lifelong Learning, Economics, Education Studies or Warwick Business School
  • not have received a URSS funding award previously or for 2021
  • submit a complete application form by the deadline stated below

How do I apply?

Please complete the form below and submit it no later than 1pm (GMT), Friday 19th March 2021. You will be informed of the outcome of your application during April. You are encouraged to discuss your application with your personal tutor before submitting.

Have you previously applied for URSS funding? (required)

If yes, and you were successful, please note that you are ineligible to participate in this scheme as a previous recipient of URSS funding.

If you are selected to participate, you will be allocated to a research team to develop a project responding to one of the themes listed below. Please indicate a preference for one or more of these themes by ticking the box next to the theme in question. (required)
