The Professional Development Workshop is aimed at students and staff interested in gender research who have limited or no experience of using quantitative methods in their research, but who are interested in what quantitative methodologies might offer or feel that a quantitative approach may be of value to them, perhaps to complement past or current qualitative research activities. The workshop is geared towards creating a sense of the scope provided by quantitative data and analyses for useful gender-related research, highlighting both opportunities and practicalities and giving participants the chance to assess how straightforward it might be to harness statistical material and analyses to their research agenda. As such, much of the workshop will be interactive in tone and there will be space for hands-on activities and for discussion/debate.
