Dissemination Workshop

Research Workshop on Evidence-based Commissioning

Wednesday 13 July 2011

at
Scarman Conference Centre
University of Warwick
Coventry CV4 7AL

At this one day event we will be reporting the major results of a two year NIHR SDO funded research project which sought to identify the key challenges for evidence-based commissioning.

The research has been conducted over the last two years by a collaborative research team from Warwick Business School and Warwick Medical School. Our focus has been on the real challenges of using evidence in commissioning work, which we systematically observed at numerous sites around the country. The project has looked mainly at service redesign and exceptional funding decision contexts and has helped identify some important enablers for using evidence in practice as well as barriers. We have already started to make our findings available through a series of publications but we are seeking more direct and participatory engagement in the hope it will enhance the impact of our research for the benefit of the NHS.

Presenters at the workshop will include Principal Investigators Professor Jacky Swan (Warwick Business School) and Professor Aileen Clarke (Warwick Medical School). Further presenters and the final programme will be announced shortly.

The workshop will take place at Scarman Conference Centre, University of Warwick and is being organised by Warwick Business School and Warwick Medical School with full sponsorship by NIHR SDO (http://www.sdo.nihr.ac.uk/).

There is no registration or participation fee and lunch and refreshments will be provided.
